Our Story & Philosophy

Sunflower Distro began in 2023 as a housing co-op fundraiser for marginalized communities. Today, we operate as a mutual aid network and grassroots distro that puts tools directly into the hands of our neighbors.

Autonomy First: We don't aspire to be a top-down charity. We provide low-barrier access to resources & information for people who are actively working toward stability and self-determination.
Everyone has a purpose: We want to create a society that appreciates diverse interests and skills. Whether it’s the artist, the worker, or the manager, everyone has something valuable to contribute, regardless of whether it brings them profit.
Tech & Nature Should Co-exist: Rejecting technology hinders growth and rejecting nature limits wisdom. Though technology has been used to damage the planet, it can just as easily be used to restore it.
Knowledge Should Be Free to Access: Whether it is media, literature, or foundational education, we believe shared knowledge is a basic right that should be embraced and exercised freely.
